NIMS Emergency Operations Plan

The National Incident Management System (NIMS) is a comprehensive system for managing domestic incidents and local emergencies. NIMS is part of the National Preparedness System and provides a flexible way for agencies to collaborate across disciplines and levels of government. When used across all local incident response agencies, NIMS can create a common operating picture that promotes more efficient and effective response services. For example, in the event of a large-scale incident, NIMS can unite response teams across jurisdictions and facilitate assistance from other communities.

As Chief of Police for the San Jose Evergreen Community College District, I highly recommend West Coast Consulting Group. They successfully implemented a standardized emergency management program across our multi-college district. In our recent accreditation, they were recognized by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) for “positive improvements related to campus safety, security and emergency preparedness."

NIMS Emergency Operations Plans (EOP's) for government and “Special District's” establish an emergency management organization to provide a basis for the jurisdiction's coordinated actions before, during, and after a disaster. The primary purpose of the EOP is to outline the jurisdiction's all-hazard approach to emergency operations to protect the safety, health, and welfare of communities.
